I was updating an elderly friends navman for a few years up to 2 years ago when the updates became unavailable. Husband needed a new battery in his old one a while ago.In addition, there's a discount on those units. There are some conditions: the offer applies from April 1, and the web site says the unit must be purchased before July 31. Navman is also offering 24 months of free map updates for the EZY30 and EZY40 units, as well as the discount.Pity I didn't title this post as Don't buy Navman, that way it would show up in a Google search. She gets lost on the crazy rat runs around b'ham M6 and I want it to find golf courses! D & son both have tom toms and they use them with no probs. I came back with sound off I have just bought a garmin, its better than navman but no where near as good as tom toms.I'd looked at navman as well......anyone liking tom tom? Dont ditch it viscount, just wipe the maps and install the tom tom ones on it!

Try to explain to him his free updates for life that came with it are now over. My opinion of standalone GPS units are now redundant unless you have a specialised purpose I called in to Service Plus only to be told that my three GPS units are no longer supported, that they would need software upgrades before they could load new maps, and that there was a serious risk that the update/loading would brick the units. Navman told him he couldn't cause it was too old and it's not user repairable anyway and he should buy a new Navman..
He took it apart himself and I bought a suitable battery online from overseas and DIY.
