Tweet counter not updating
The aforementioned changes are rolling out across twitter.com, Twitter for i OS, Twitter for Android, Tweet Deck, and Twitter Lite over the coming days and weeks.
Twitter for i OS is a free download from App Store.
Twitter is making good on a product promise the company announced almost a year ago but never rolled out: Longer tweet replies.
We know many of our users value this count, so we have been working on a new way of calculating and providing the number of Twitter shares.
Attachments like photos, GIFs, videos or polls will no longer eat up precious characters! Right now, media attachments populate a link that counts as extra characters (links written within the copy will still count towards the total 140-limit).
Attach visuals without worrying about limitations and get more characters back to write with.
Many of you may have noticed that on November 24, 2015, Twitter removed its share counts and tweet buttons have been replaced with buttons that do not show the number of tweets that a web page has received.
Twitter’s decision to close off its API has also affected many other apps that display Twitter share numbers, including Shared Count and Scrapebox which now are unable to display the number of Twitter shares.
